Music from Stams
The music collection of Stams is one of the most valuable musical treasures of Tyrol. The monastery archives of the Cistercians in the Upper Inn Valley harbors a significant number of rare sheet music manuscripts and prints, mainly from the period of the second half of the 18th century. At that time, the music was care in Stams at a peak. Fortunately, this extraordinary music archive storms of times largely unscathed (see Hildegard Herrmann-Schneider, "Stams", in:... The music in history and present, Second, revised edition, tangible part, Vol 8, Kassel et al, 1998, Sp 1732 . -1735; this "Stams", in: Austrian music lexicon, Vol 5, Vienna 2006).. Apart from the existing sacred music of all genres enlarged the ideational richness of this exemplary collection a perhaps some astonishing variety of secular works, among them also occasional compositions for various occasions.
