DILETTO TE DEUM "earthly pleasures in God" for two trumpets, horn, trombone. tuba and organ was given its first performance by Günther Maysenhölder, organ and the Brandenburg-Quintet, Berlin in Stuttgart on 20th January 1991.
The edition now available of Berhard Krol's: DILETTO TE DEUM for 2 trumpets, horn,trombone,tuba and organ consists of 5 parts.
In each of its five movements the composition has reference to the Gregorian manner of singing of the Te Deum Laudamus. The theme of each movement is the faithful quotation in music of the corresponding line of text, which stands in the Liber Hymnarius of the Antiphonale Romanum. The final movement concl udes with the melody Großer Gott, wir loben Dich (Ho!y Father„ we praise Thee) as a cantus firmus.

Bernhard Kral was born on 24th June 1920 in Berlin. The composer completed his course of study in music (composition and horn) in Vienna and Berlin, with Josef Rufer amongst others and so counts as a result of this connection, as being a pupil of Arnold Schönberg of the second generation. Nevertheless Krol has neither taken over serial nor freel y tonal composition techniques; tonally speaking he is more successor to the Reger-Hindemith tradition. His signature bears proof of his being a practising musician and is at pains to entertain his listeners in a diverting if demanding manner.
