Lister, Richard; Monologue pour trombone basse solo
Monologues sur les 4 tempéraments
1. choleric
2. mucosités
3. mélancolie
4. Sanguinik
This four-movement piece, composed for solo bass trombone, was composed during my years of study at London university. lt is written in the neo-serial style and describes the "Humours" by attributing extrava-gant character traits (such as a disposition to be sanguine, phlegmatic, choleric or melancholic) to an imbalance in the mix of bodily fluids (blood, phlegm, yellow bile and black bile)
the piece place great demands in the flexibility of the soloist - not least due to the extreme range of the piece (cotra D to c#'') and the wide leaps. It is a challenge for every bass trombonist and a must for the soloist's repertoire!
